Hoosier Heartland Trolley Co. (founded by a group of intrepid traction fans) saved four precious examples of Hoosier traction rolling stock – including the sole surviving Indianapolis streetcar.

The Nickel Plate Express is now providing excursions on the 12 miles of Nickle Plate line between Atlanta and Noblesville.

The Indiana Transportation Museum has moved to Logansport (home of the Iron Horse Festival), operating on 34 miles of former Nickel Plate Road track.
